This year, Hip Hop proved its status as the most popular genre with five songs in the Top 10 of BuzzAngle’s Hitmakers list.
The list has traditionally been one of the most accurate indicators of the most consumed music in the United States. It examines all genres and determines what music people are really listening to based on data. The list, created by the team at Variety and BuzzAngle Music, takes into account audio streams, video streams, radio spins, Shazam tags and song sales to determine what the top 30 songs of 2017 are.
Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” sits at the No. 3 spot with 4,426,608 project units in overall consumption. Post Malone’s “Congratulations” reached No. 5 with a healthy figure of 3,625,039. Future’s platinum single “Mask Off” lands at the No. 6 spot with 3,576,938 units moved while Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO Tour Llif3” hit No. 8 with a resounding 3,399,233. DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One” also cracked the Top 10 at the No. 9 spot with 3,294,231 units.

Elsewhere in the Top 20, Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” checked in at No. 11 with 3,013,843 units. KYLE’s “iSpy” secured the No. 12 entry with 2,934,521 units moved while French Montana’s “Unforgettable” came in at No. 15 with 2,760,556 units.
