Baton Rouge, LA

NBA YoungBoy was taken into custody on Friday (May 17) following a hearing in East Baton Rouge. According to TMZ, he’ll be behind bars for at least 30 days.

District Judge Bonnie Jackson ruled a social media post involving the fatal Miami shooting last weekend constituted a probation violation despite the fact he was the target and not the triggerman.

YoungBoy’s attorney, Jimmy Manasseh, told the outlet his client was only arrested because of the post. He insists he was the victim of an “assassination attempt.”

Manasseh also noted the Baton Rouge-bred rapper wasn’t in possession of a gun and didn’t commit any crimes, calling the shooting “a terrible and tragic incident.”

Jackson determined the post violates his probation, which he received from an August 2017 sentence for aggravated assault with a firearm. As part of his release conditions, he was ordered to stay off social media for his three-year probation period.

Members of the Baton Rouge rapper’s party were legally armed and returned fire, according to Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta. Sadly, one of the bullets fatally struck 43-year-old Mohamad Jradi as he sat in his van across the street.

Zabaleta confirmed nobody in NBA YoungBoy’s party will be charged considering they fired back in self-defense.
